Modding / Modding Repetitive Tasks
« on: August 17, 2019, 07:16:58 PM »
I don't know if anyone else has already done something like this, but I couldn't find anything like it so I thought I would share.

Because I was wearing myself and my keyboard out prepping my large fields, I came up with this to save a few keystrokes:

.Drop branches. "Branch" (4) /.1/ \2h\ [noquality]
{Branch} (4) [remove]
[NAME:Branch]

I added the \2h\ bit because it kept picking them off the ground instead of from my inventory and I wanted to give myself plenty of time in case I needed to gather more branches to continue.

I've placed it in diy_myTemp.txt that I use for testing things until I figure out a more suitable spot for it. Now I can just 'r' instead of going through the whole 'drop' routine for every single tile.

There might be other uses for this as a template elsewhere, too.

Hope it helps someone else out as much as has me.

Suggestions / Falling suggestion.
« on: July 08, 2019, 07:51:47 PM »
I've noticed that whenever my character falls when climbing, they always land on their feet just like a cat. It would be nice if they fell prone most of the time and had to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and try again.

And on the subject of falling, I don't think any of my characters have ever slipped and fallen down even once no matter how bad they are at skiing. I've had my share of spills in real life and think it would add to the realism if I didn't have to deliberately fall down on my own every now and again just to keep things real.  ;)

Bug reports / Item duplication
« on: December 02, 2018, 09:16:35 PM »
I've been trading my roasted meat for arrows for portability and packing them on my reindeer stag. I noticed that if I just packed new arrows on the stag, they weren't automatically stacking so I've been forced to unpack, drop, and repack them.

I just ended up with 259 arrows and while packing them got the error message "Burden of 259 arrows is too much for the reindeer stag to carry!" so I decided to see what I could unpack since every slot is used up and found 255 arrows on the stag. I unpacked them, dropped them with the others and attempted to repack them. After playing around with it a few times, I've now got over 1000 extra arrows I have to discard.

Edit:  I'm running Version 3.50 (stable)

Not bugs / [not a bug] Dead Njerpez weight remains fixed
« on: December 04, 2017, 09:24:41 PM »
I was playing around learning to mod and trying to devise a way to clean and tan #3# Njerpez scalps for ritual use when I discovered that after dropping the corpse its weight reverted back to its original value. Haven't tried it with other corpses/carcasses yet.

I guess it's proof that your hair keeps growing after you die. ;)

Modding / Can't get Tanning material to work
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:17:55 PM »
I've been playing the game for a little while now and decided to play around with modding, and I ran into a little snag. No matter what I've tried, I can't get tanning material to work and thought I might be doing something wrong. Instead of pulling my hair out over this, I thought I'd just save some time and heartache and go straight to the experts.

Anyway, the line I've put in the recipe is:
{Tanning material} #2# [remove]

I've tried putting it in both *MAKE* and *COOKERY* and can't get it to work with fat or bark, and always get a message like:  "Bark doesn't work as tanning material!"

In case it makes a difference, I'm running Version 3.4 (beta 3).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
