Bug reports / [3.83]"Pick up and wield" function doesn't work.
« on: March 04, 2024, 07:09:00 PM »
I just noticed that now I can't use the combination of "alt"+"," keys to pick up and wield the weapon on ground at the same time. Actually, before v3.83 update, this key combination couldn't work if the item you want to pick up and wield is an arrow. I don't know if it's designed so or bug, but now this function is just not working for all kinds of items.

Gameplay questions / What is the hunting horn for use?
« on: October 20, 2023, 05:50:55 PM »
I recently captured a hunting horn from a Nejerpzit warrior and honestly I've never saw it before even after hundreds of gameplay hours.

When I use that hunting horn, it gives the text: you produce a fancy sound.

So, what does it mean? You use it to attract aniamls or call yoru dogs in combat or what?

General Discussion / Did anyone ever see a seal for once?
« on: October 08, 2023, 07:33:20 PM »
I've played UrW for many hours like how we here all have done. But I've never seen a seal for just once, not to mention to try to hunt one. But it doesn't matter because there are a lot of other game contents.
Therefore, I didn't think about seal stuffs until that recently I tried an islander and started with an ango. Then it came to me that it might be fun to hunt a seal. Then I began to seriously search the coasts and sea as much as I could but just in vein.
And I can't even find a vedio about hunting seals on Internet, either. They are just as mysterious as Yetis. I began to suspect that if they ever exist. So do anyone know how to find and track a seal or spot where they lives? Do they tend to show up in north or maybe south?

I recalled that I once saw a post about the shortcut key for picking up and wielding an item in the same turn, but I forgot which key combination it is. That would be a very useful shortcut key espically during white hot combat. So, I wonder if anyone knows it and would like to remind me of it or if there's actually such a shortcut key. Thank you very much.

Suggestions / Livestock powered millstone for grinding grains
« on: February 13, 2023, 10:04:03 AM »
I was wondering what if there is millstone in Unreal World, which can be powered by people or livestock, like bull or reindeer. Grains can be processed into flour automatically in the millstone when there is a proper animal attached to it, just like how it's attached to a tree or fence. Player can build a millstone himself or use one in a village, perhaps.
With millstone introduced to the game, cereal dieted style could be a considerable choice compared to dried/smoked meat dieted style. Because the millstone saves a lot of time and effort from processing grain. You don't have to grind grain yourself, just need to leave the work to livestock and do other things at the same time.

seems when they ran out of arrows, they then shot tree trunks, with bow in one hand and a shield in the other hand. version 3.72-patch#1

Gameplay questions / How to use Physician on companion to stop bleeding?
« on: January 08, 2023, 02:52:37 PM »
Can someone please tell me how to use Physician on companion to stop bleeding? Thank you.
After finishing a brutal battle, my companion is very badly wound, lying on ground and bleeding. I intended to use Physician skill on him to help stopping his bleeding, but I don't how to use it. I tried to open the Physician interface but it showed my own wounds, and I try to use Look and Examine, but no good. Finally, I saw him died in front of me... I once somehow used Physician to stop my bleeding dog and pack animal by pressing some keys which I didn't remember.

Just as the subject, you can put fistful of seeds into a bag, a box or a basket, but how can you separate any fistful of them from the container? So you can use them as bird bait

9
Tree trunks sometimes spawns in your inventory when you've done fishing. I have this happenning to me when I fish in rapids, but not always. not sure if so in other kind of waters.

Gameplay questions / does shutter cause a heat loss?
« on: January 05, 2023, 12:21:44 PM »
I want to build a cabin with all shutter-walls instead of walls. but if the gain of view is in sacrifice of heat loss, it doesn't worth anymore. So the question comes to me. Does shutter cause a heat loss?
I also noticed that, you can build a floor with ceiling of wooden building on the central tile of a kota framework, on which you can build a stove. By doing this, you automatically dismantle the kota framework, but the existing kota walls and the inside of kota remains. the center of kota should be empty but in this way you can build a celing and floor there to build a stove. Then here comes another question of mine, Will the dismantled framework break the heat preservation of kota? Thank you very much

Gameplay questions / question about diagonal distance
« on: December 31, 2022, 05:37:12 AM »
is diagonal distance of a tile 1.4 times of the horizonal/vertical distance or same with it? So, will going diagonal direction take more time than going horizonal/vertical direction each turn?

I was wondering if dog could be able to hold small preys like squirrel or hare in mouth by wielding them, so that dog can take back these preys when you order them to hunt them and they did it. Then you don't have to difficultly seek the location of hunted prey in forest.
In this way, dogs can hold a bone in mouth so they will atomically eat the bone and save you a lot of operation from dropping a bone from inventory, ordering them to eat and picking up unfinished bone to move on.
If this in game, Adding option to order dog to fetch a stick or your shoes is not far. You can also play 'go fetch' game with you dog by throwing a stick and tell your dog to retrieve it. :D

Trading with the wandering woodsman/hunter/adventurers in wilderness is a common interaction with them. But after you buy tools or expensive furs with like more than a hundred cuts of meat in one time, they will drop the cuts on ground since they can't carry that much. Then you can just pick up them and they are ok about it. villagers also drop things they can't carry, but they are still considered as village property. So, if you picked up them, you need to buy them. They are not yours anymore. However, it seems wandering npcs just give up the item they drop, just like the arrows they shoot. I think it's not a bug, but still a loophole you can exploit to take goods from wandering npcs without actually paying.
Suggested solution: add a label to mark items as npc's individual belongings

14
The stolen goods will have (taken) label for some time when you steal them and take them outside the village without being caught. So will the empty containers when content poured out or consumed. And I found this when I stole a bag of beans from a village:
When I had eaten all stolen beans, the empty bag was left and marked with (taken). So, I went back to the same village without carrying the bag, in consideration that the bag was still plunder. But the villagers still knew it and required me to pay for the empty bag when I traded with them, even if I didn't carry it. Other stolen items, however, were not required to be paid. Then I paid for the bag, but it was asked to be paid again every time I entered that village.
Sometimes, people are desperate enough to steal food and cloth from village in order to survive coldness and starvation. I guess this is a small punishment for stealing, but still hope it could be fixed.

The (unpaid) or (taken) label is not correctly added to arrows, when they are picked up as goods in a village. They will be automatically stacked to the arrows you have already owned in inventory, so you can leave the village free without paying for them. It's happening in Version 3.72.
