Off-topic / Be ready
« on: April 24, 2022, 07:23:41 PM »
To all my dear friends in Finland - be ready. Rabid orc is on the loose and you guys are not part of NATO. Threats are being made again and I am sure some of you are taking them seriously, but please be ready.

Yes, we are bleeding rabid orc. Yes, Ukraine WILL stand, but there are quite a lot of them and they have been amassing weapons for last 30+ years. I know that its rather low possibility that the hordes will attack you at this moment, but its not impossible. Be ready.

To all youngsters who might think its just a "thing" and will pass, let me leave you with this wonderful song. Have a listen and make your own conclusions:

General Discussion / Tree sap/syrup in spring?
« on: April 05, 2021, 07:43:54 AM »
Just wondering if you guys do this kind of thing in Finland? It used to be quite a bit deal back in the days since its possible to collect spring sap from almost any fruit bearing tree, maple, walnut or even birch and boil it down to a thick, sweet syrup that has a very good shell life. Given the fact that sugar in general was quite pricey and very scares resource, methinks that springsap gathering would be something most of people wouldnt miss if it could be helped.

Off-topic / Underrail - simply wow....
« on: January 26, 2020, 01:18:35 AM »
Hey there fellow wood crawlers. About a week ago I stumbled across this gem of a game called Underrail and to be honest, I am simply blows away. I normally would reserve my judgement till I finish the title or at least get about half way through, but after reading up about the title I am under strong impression that it'll take me months to do so and then I might forget to share this little gem with you guys. So far, I think this Underrail is what a true Fallout 3 should've been, so if you liked original FO1 and 2, give it a go. I think you'd be very pleasantly surprised :)

Suggestions / Another title?

Hey Erkka and Sami. I know what you'll say (probably), but for some reason I cant get this outta my head. You guys have amassed huge volume of knowledge about iron age Scandinavia and you have a few decades of experience in game development. Yet, you have only one title. Dont get me wrong, its not a bad thing, but it just seems like you could (hell no, you SHOULD) do more with that knowledge. For example, take the ancient trade route from varangians to greeks. Its a such under-explored territory and with such amazing potential. No need for any orcs, goblins or any other nonsense - life at that time was very diverse and this route covered places from northern Europe all the way to very south of it. Just imagine setting up a caravan in Scandinavia and traveling all that way.... Or even being a helping hand on that caravan. If anyone out have the knowledge and the determination to make something as grand as this happen - it'll be you guys. With modern crowd funding platforms you can not only fund the development, but make some decent bucks if your work will be (and we all know it will be) just as good as URW is.

Suggestions / Patreon

Hey guys, have you heard about Patreon? If not, you absolutely should have a look at that platform. When you guys moved to donation based payments, it didnt exist yet, but now it looks like a very good option for you (strictly IMHO of course). I use it to support a few journalists and bloggers, but from what I understand its mainly used to provide crowd based support for folks like you. In short, it provides a pretty safe, reliable and completely hassle free monthly based subscriptions for your support base and some additional exposure to potential gamers. I am just a supporter there, but if you guys will need some help setting that thing up, I think I can ask more detailed, technical info from a person I support there.
