Gameplay questions / Runaway slave (spring) general hints?
« on: January 23, 2018, 03:34:32 PM »
Hi,
i am so hyped to play as Runaway slave at spring, but i am unable to survive.
I can barely escape, but cannot find any source of food as i am without any tool and i am just wandering across nature.
Water is still frozen.

Do you have some simple hints how can i get a grip to survive till some first crops will grow?  :)

Thanks!

Thats exactly what i wanted to tell you about, because its obvious how huge amount of work is behind this game and even most potencial fans have no chance to find it without accident..

I was trying to mod The Long Dark to finaly get what i wanted from it (less wildlife and less loot mostly), then i got pissed of and typed "hardcore survival game" to google.
I knew there has to be a lot of people which want such a game in the world..

And i found this via some forums about survival games. This is really strange, i would play it for years now, but didn't know it even exists..
I played a lot of survivals and always was bored by how developers are trying to have the game more accesible (The Long Dark, 7 days to die). I didn't even try to buy games like Rust, or Ark, because i was part of 7d community and i knew they started to turn the game to be easier because of sale success of these both games. Major people unfortunatelly want buying easy games..

I played even games which were influented by this obviously (NEO scavenger).

Suggestions / (3.40) Groupped injuries info

Injuries in injured animal info card (F3) should be grouped like 10 bruises at neck, not stacked each after another..

As i am new to UW, i would like to give you some hints.
I have a lot experience with survival games including Wurm and Dward Fortress (ok they are not really survival, but they need huge amount of patience) so i can tell i have mostly no problem to overcome design flaws in games, but here i found some:

Setting a trap
I believe i fell into very probably most common pattern of players here where we are going to setup trap at the same tile as we have shelter.
There is not obvious how your "task events" system works, so i just setup trap on the same tile, then i found out its based on zooms, so i removed the trap and put it at map tile besides.
But when i tried to trigger the check event few days later nothing happend.
So i removed the trap again, and set it up at the first position, then moved for a few days ouside and when i returned back, tutorial moved to next step.
Looks like your "check trap" event is locked on the tile, where "setup trap" was triggered..
This is obviously very confusing for new players.

Watercourse
When i created a raft, i waas really confused to find it in my inventory, i was looking for dissapearing rafts at google, then after few minutes i found it in inventory accidentaly.

I finished tutorial and everything else seems to me ok.

Bug reports / (3.40) shutter alignment
« on: December 31, 2017, 08:46:21 PM »
Hi, im a very newbie to UW (not survival games  :) )

I know there is a lot of buzz around shutter walls, but even workaround seems to not work here.
I have basically both sides of shutter wall builded (right one is corner) and it still aligns as vertical here.
(i deconstructed and built shutter wall as last part what you can see here - its that last log lines at right..)

When i was tanning skin on the ground without any shelter, it started to rain during drying and it was raining for most of the drying process..
And it finished without any delay even when rain interrupted possibility of drying...

It was in tutorial during summer, very hummid, very hot weather.
