Modding / Re: IF you could see any mod created, what would it be?
« on: November 06, 2020, 02:43:03 AM »
I would love to be able to modify animals and NPC's (create monsters). I would love to try this out with a Middle Earth spin, orcs, trolls, dragons, etc. :)

Modding / Melee Training Mod (derived from Privateer)
« on: November 06, 2020, 02:37:59 AM »
Hi All,
Here is a mod for training melee weapon skills with a training dummy. It is derived from Privateer's Kalma mod but without the need for butchering humans or gods.

I play with the BAC mod, so this uses Q for the menu. But, of course anyone could modify as they wish.

Thanks to Privateer for doing the main work... i just modified the mod. :)
Thanks to Sami as always!

Suggestions / Use spruce twig to cover/erase tracks in snow.

Like the title says.... i would like to 'apply' a spruce twig to cover/erase tracks in the snow. Seams like a logical thing to to. Not terribly helpful unless enemies are following you via tracks (not sure if this happens in-game though). Mostly useful to clean up an area of old tracks.

@Privateer Can you post up a link to that Quiver mod? I would like to have a look at it.

This is an official request to be able to retrieve the contents of containers without losing it to the spirits.

@PALU Thanks for clarifying that it wasn't a mod issue, i wasn't sure.

Shouldn't this be something we request Sami update for one of the future versions? Would it be too much to ask that when i put 10 meat cuts into a container and then empty it, 10 meat cuts come back out? Seems like a valid request to me. Liquids of course would be lost (poured on the ground). Quality of various items in the container could be handled by maybe taking the average or something and storing it in a variable. I am just brainstorming on how to handle this problem. However it is handled (if it is handled) i think it would be a nice addition to the game.

I am using Buoidda's mod (http://z3.invisionfree.com/UrW_forum/index.php?showtopic=8043), i have built a birch bark basket, filled it with dried meat, empty it and loose all the meat. Shouldn't the meat be on the ground or in my inventory when the basket is emptied?

Modding / Re: Current version mods?

If you are looking for some added realism i would recommend this one:
Buoidda's Crafts

I just found out about it and have been trying it out with version 3.40. So far it works as expected (bug free) and i must say it is my favorite mod so far!

I think this thread hits on a very important point. Some people think something should be in the vanilla version of the game while others would disagree. That is EXACTLY what modding is for! Modding allows everyone to have, more or less, the game that they want.

Also, modding with URW is as easy as copying some text files into your game folder. You don't need to know how to create the mods, you just need to download the text files or create a txt file and copy/paste. Then with very little effort your/my game has the features of choice.

I personally love iron working, and so EVERY game i play has "rain's iron mod".

@caethan: Thanks for posting the Birch-bark mod items. That is something that i have been lacking in my current game but was too lazy to look around for a mod, and way too lazy to write my own..... haha, then what i need just appears... like magic. Thank you!

Birch bark bandages are really what i want though, i guess i will have to write them in....I really don't have a lot of clothes or hides for bandages at the moment....

That is a great article! Saving that. :)

What maybe cool is to have a setting to adjust the realism of in game damage. If a player wanted to play with severed and maimed limbs they could turn the setting to the max.

Yes, a lot of good and interesting points. I, for one, vote against the bloodstains.... I rather enjoy butchering animals on my bed.. thank you!

Turning milk into butter and cheese i believe is possible now with the modding system. Although, someone with more knowledge of the intricacies of modding would have to verify that. Pretty sure it's possible though....

I think animal husbandry in general would be a great addition. But, for me, most interesting is the thought of catching wild birds and taming them. Currently, you can find bird nests with eggs, so maybe it would be possible to have a steady supply of eggs from tamed birds (and feathers for arrows?).

Then once eggs are a steady part of ones diet we need scrambled eggs with сала / bacon!! Yum!

Suggestions / Re: Animals eat garden
« on: August 13, 2017, 08:23:11 PM »
Ah, that is good to know. It sounds as if animals play a more realistic role in the latest version of the game than older versions. I haven't gotten around to growing a garden in this version so i couldn't say for sure. I was just concerned.

I am glad to know that fences will keep the elk out, as for the badgers, birds and other pests.. i wonder if tying a dog to the fence would keep them out?
