I've never had any problem with keeping me warm even in the north winter.

That said, check your current cold protection with [A]. Also, keep in mind that the quality and status of clothes affect its protection rate.

There is already a suggestion that is similar, if you are carrying a paddle or sesta and are trying to move a punt or raft over water then you automatically equip the tool.
IIRC, the suggestion was to make the character use a near paddle/sesta in a similar way that currently, a near tool is used when needed.

Well he asked what are the actions, subject is “technical question” and this is gameplay questions board, not suggestions.
It might be worth a suggestion, but might need more refining before posting the suggestion: how would two-handed be treated, with a tool or with shield or existing weapon, what if the other weapon is one handed throwing weapon like rock or javelin. Should it be placed in inventory, other hand or dropped? Automatic actions sometimes make things more complicated.
It can be done without overcomplicating things, e.g.: pressing [w]ield instead of [Enter]>[Space] when selecting which item is taken (both, from the ground or a burden animal). In case that both hands are occupied, a prompt telling the player that needs to free a hand [d]ropping or [T]aking out something is shown.

Pick up is “g” or “,”
Adjacent pick up is “G” or “;” +direction where to pick from
“Tab” then “w” for weapons, (“ Space” to confirm if more than one possible item)

followed by “w” to wield and the game should automatically show weapons to wield.
Those are two different actions: one to pick up an item and another to wield it. What @Bakkat's proposing is a new action, meant to grab an item and keep it in hand, wielding it in one single action.

Suggestions / Animals helping the player [P] and [M] stuff

Good day everyone.

It's been a looong time since my last UrW game. I'm currently immersed in a runaway slave run and having a blast. My former masters camp has already been burnt to the ground with only two casualties in my warband, and the remaining companions are currently helping me build a small cottage to pass the winter in the cold Owl-tribe lands.

I forgot how time consuming it was, just moving the logs around is extremelly annoing. The help from my unoccupied companions is invaluable, but I came with a little idea that would make it even easier: What if animals could help [M]Move (draft) stuff around too? Only reindeers or bigger, and only if equipped with a harness made from ropes and slender trunks or planks. My guess that a regular reindeer could pull three or four times as much as a human, and a bull or cow maybe ten or twelve time more.

The sled from the BAC mod is a really cool idea, but once we have companions help the player, why not extend that behaviour to animals? I think it would be a first step on having proper vehicles and such.

I'm very happy to see UrW in good shape and growing, but sad to hear that the donations dried. I guess it was to expect when the game lanched into Steam...

I'll do my part and spread word of the awesomeness of UrW in every forum I stumble upon, as I usually do ;)

I've been out of the loop lately, and coming in after a long time and seeing all these tidbits about the next update is really exciting!

You've been already asked about this, but can't resist: with the new cubs and baby animals, how far is animal husbandry? And more important, human husbandry? :D
