Re: Roasting turnips
Having seen the survivor feast video I had a thought...

Hmmm....

Can we roast turnips in the game? Maybe it dries them so lower weight but same nutrition while a better taste. So overall you can better push up your nutrition.

My thoughts exactly, after the recent cooking of the ember-roasted turnips.
We can't do it yet, but soon we will as I've been working on the said cooking method lately.
I'll post news about it when there's enouhg progress.

Dropping everything when wielding paddle or ski stick I reckon paddle and ski stick are among the most wielded/unwielded items in the game and it wouldn't hurt to streamline their use.

QoL: when on a watercraft and dropping everything (to set a net), one shouldn't drop the paddle if it's wielded. Same should be with ski stick when skiing.

I would classify these both as (poor) weapons since on top of inventory they are much faster to find.
QoL: paddle is quite a formidable ad-hoc weapon - i want to finish off those squirrels with it rather that kicking and punching

it tried to mod the latter, but only succeeded with ski stick

Re: Happy New Year
Hehe. And to select the perfect boots and outfit.

You look good, happy and smiling that wise smile. I printed out a portrait of you years ago that has been on my wall since, I look to it for inspiration when working on computers, and in it you have the very same expression.

Sami's Bouncing arrows got revisited. So, I was awake in the middle of the night, as I usually am, watching YouTube and found interesting video from Tod's Workshop about bouncing arrows from water surface linking to a archery channel where he got the original idea, so I thought I'd check it out since the guy looked somewhat familiar...

I had forgotten Sami had a YT channel, Ugri Archer, and of course it was his video.

Tod tried them for some duck hunting in his video, check it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAX8N8Ycs1g

Burials of deceased people. Sami-folk / Tribes tended to bury their dead in stone mounds, often wrapped in birchbark.
In the southern parts of the North, dead were sometimes cremated. Sometimes buried in ground, sometimes in stone mounds, and often people that were hostile, buried in bogs.

One of my characters disposed a gang of 4 vagabond robbers, and as he went to bury them the following night, found the remains to... float. (if needed, some tying equipment and stone should help with submersing)

Suggestion, allow varied burial types for deceased.
1) pushing or throwing remains in water in open mire and pine mire to be "buried in bog" similar to metal items.
2) add tile-gfx for burial mound, constructed with remains and 15-20-ish stones *
3) adding items in dug pit, then filling the pit; leave the items in the ground, not pop-up on the surface
Cremation/burning remains already works

* adding some mounds in proximity to villages would add touch of realism, deepen immersion. And in case of hired help dying, carrying, or dragging the remains back to their home village could allow proper burial.

Re: Burials of deceased people. Yes, you have to stay around for funeral pyres to actually incinerate the bodies, which is unfortunate.

Re: Cave Dwelling Question no. add a door and a fireplace and you're good to smoke  8)

do not build on "surface of the earth" or you'll destroy the natural light near the entrance of the cave

Archaeological find: elk tooth ornaments discovered in Karelian island burials
Quote
Roughly 8,200 years ago, the island of Yuzhniy Oleniy Ostrov in Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia, Russia, housed a large burial ground where men, women and children of varying ages were buried. Many of the graves contain an abundance of objects and red ochre, signifying the wish to ensure the comfort of the buried also after death. Pendants made of elk incisors were apparently attached to clothing and accessories, such as dresses, coats, cloaks, headdresses and belts. Although no clothing material has been preserved, the location of the elk teeth sheds light on the possible type of these outfits.

A people of grooved elk tooth pendants

A study headed by archaeologist Kristiina Mannermaa, University of Helsinki, aimed to determine who the people buried in outfits decorated with elk tooth ornaments were, and what the pendants meant to them. The study analyzed the manufacturing technique of a total of more than 4,000 tooth ornaments, or the way in which the teeth had been processed for attachment or suspension. The results were surprising, as practically all of the teeth had been processed identically by making one or more small grooves at the tip of the root, which made tying the pendants easier. Only in two instances had a small hole been made in the tooth for threading, both of which were found in the grave of the same woman. The tooth pendants found in graves located in the Baltic area and Scandinavia from the same period as the Yuzhniy Oleniy Ostrov graves are almost exclusively perforated. Perforation is the surest way of fastening the pendant, but making holes in the narrow tip of a tooth is more laborious than grooving.

Re: Has persistence hunting been made more difficult? Weapons do get damaged by being blocked or you blocking with them, but I haven't seen any damage from other use (apart from the arrows already mentioned).
