Re: [3.63 - steam] Base walking speed lowered It's figured it out now. There's remnant of old code in mobility checks which assumes there's snow on the ground based the date rather than the actual snow depth data.
That's likely the cause, false snow penalty. Will be fixed.

Re: Foreign traders’ merchandise? Nice idea. I'll experiment and let you know my results when I do. I suspect it's probably possible via memory, which would make a nice addition to my current project.

Re: My first bear. I was originally surprised that the Bear Hunting Ritual required dog fur gloves. It was only after I hunted a bear with my pet dog I understood where the dog pelts come from to make the gloves.

Re: Sometimes can't find the trap site... even it Heath Time for a second pass of all the legitimate tiles, then. I've had at least one case where I somehow missed the correct tile on the first pass.

Re: Plant withering, calendar or weather triggered? I think it's both. It used to be calendar only but it used to be that i could guarantee that plants of a certain type planted before a certain date would always be harvestable, and now i can't. It used to be that you'd always get a message like "it can be harvested in a couple days. it's withering and will die in a week." which would mean it could be harvested for sure.

But now I've noticed that in spite of the "it can be harvested in a day, it is withering and will die in a week" message, if there is a sudden snow storm, then the next day it cannot be harvested at all, because the snow destroyed it.

This makes me believe that crop mechanics now are a lot more realistic model of what would happen in real life: the crop will be ready n days after you planted it (which varies a little bit due to random conditions), but can be destroyed by animals or weather before it becomes ready.

Re: Auto-cutting and other tying equipment additions
Leather and fur cut cord would go under strong, or under thin? Both?

They would probably go into mediocre/average category, somewhere between the strong and thin..  to the existing universal "tying equipment" category with no specific term of it's own. But we're still pondering, as the categorization is tricky. Because there's possibility to craft leather ropes the leather cords wouldn't quite fit in the strongest section.

And worn out clothing would be cut, or unraveled, into thread?

Yes, that's something you should be able to do, and I'd like to add it. The threads obtained this way wouldn't always be too long, but still usable for some things.

If nettle processing will be added, will hemp processing be also included for the strongest ropes?

That would be reasonable. I'm hoping hemp processing comes along with these additions as "easy" by-product, but we'll start with nettles. You should be able to make strong ropes from nettle too. The best system would be to allow processing any harvestable fibres into threads, and any threads into yarns/strings, cords or ropes.

Re: Fence as drying rack And you did that in Finnish summer weather rather than somewhere where the summer is actually mostly hot with a mostly clear sky?
Sure, there can be week long periods of sun and no rain, but they'll probably happen at times other than when you have a fresh kill...
