Re: Is this a good starting character? It's a very good character. A huge maximum strength character can wear a lot of armor without getting slowed down and carry a lot of stuff (to move them around) without having to resort to dragging as much.
Just remember that you may have to adopt your tactics when shifting to weaker characters later on, so you may start some bad habits if you're not careful.

Re: Mik Mik's expert bow skill finally pays off... the badger falls!
A short chase across the ice and the critter becomes his next meal.

A new short film by Enormous Elk This is not strictly UrW-related, but a stand-alone production by Enormous Elk.

We made a short film called "Shaman Duel". It's a variation of a classic theme in Finnish folklore; two sages meet on a narrow path, they both refuse to give way to the other, so they end up having a magic duel to see who has to step aside.

You can watch it on Vimeo

Re: What stat determines...
The characters I tested were owl-tribe, I suspect Kaumo are the master race of the Unreal World since I think weight, height and physique are also taken in account. I remember one human companion fainting by just a single shallow cut to the abdomen, if only robbers were like that I'd justify their sheer numbers.

Edit: Yep, definitely must be endurance after further testing, if only fleeing from combat was feasible...

If it follows the TT rules then yes, it's endurance with a fair amount of RNG mixed in. When you have an endurance of, say, 12 and you're rolling 3d6 trying to stay under there's a fair chance you're going down. Your physical penalty also adds to the roll (in TT it's +1 per full 10 points) so if you're injured or fatigued you go down faster.

This is only if you get hit, though. Owl Tribe with a bow are brutal.

Re: Good guy robber The "wake up scared" message is most likely not related to robbers, but the spirits being somewhat unhappy with you for some unrelated reason.

The robbers rob you of your valuable stuff, and beat you up (and take your things) if you resist, so I wouldn't call them good guys (if you don't have anything of value, they won't bother taking your junk).
It's a bit of a pity that you don't actually have the ability to beat them up as the quest indicates you might do. The only think you can do is kill them (although I haven't actually tried to knock them all out and leave them, partially because it's hard and risky, as they may wake up and flank you).

As far as I know your treatment of the robbers' corpses doesn't have any effects beyond role playing ones (I leave them for the carrion birds).

Re: Female Dogs I can at least tell you that there are big and small female dogs, because I've seen some. I don't know if female dogs are inherently smaller than male dogs.

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World?
Speaking of dogs, they should probably run away if they’re too hungry.

Or turn on you and eat you alive.

Re: Question about Combat and Accuracy In addition to what others have said;

regarding the ranged combat:
- what is the quality of the arrows you are using? Curved ones are almost guaranteed to miss, more so the longer the range.
- a stationary target is easier to hit than a moving one.

regarding melee combat:
- sometimes it is a valuable tactis to disable the opponent. For example, a good bash to the leg is better than three missed thrusts aimed at the head.
