Re: Questions about Intelligence & other stats Furthermore... is it actually even worth it to upgrade physical stats?  As I understand it, stat upgrades do not directly correlate to skill increases, right?  So you will still need to train each skill individually over time.  The only thing stat increase can POTENTIALLY do is increase the rate at which skill increases occur... so if you already have 3 or even 2 stars in each skill, it might not be worth it to upgrade stats at all?  EXCEPT in the cases of stats which have a direct influence on in-game attributes, such as Endurance (increases carry weight) and Speed (increases default movement speed).  Are there other stats which have a direct in-game influence?  For example, does Agility increase the likelihood of successful dodge or attack?  Strength, I assume, increases attack damage with melee weapons?  Will increases resistance to sleepiness and blood loss... are there others?

Re: Adding marriage - poll about how you find its priority Hi Sami,

Been a long time.

I began to play again in the latest version and it's awesome how it has improved.

Regarding the development plans, in my opinion,

I think female old women and female children would be a good bump for inmersion and complete a bit more the realism of villages.
See childs playing could be a nice touch.

Maybe add a sparse breeding of animals, so you can get calfs.
If you got them penned be forced to gime them proper area for feeding,

Just a couple of ideas,

Awesome so far!

Various questions from a new player Hello, I'm fairly new to the game and I have a few questions.

Can pets freeze to death without getting wet? (Like on the coldest night of the year.)

If I hit an animal with a javelin and it runs away, will that javelin remain in the game forever or does it disappear when that animal is killed by another animal? Or can that animal just disappear?

I've had ravens steal my food before. I've encountered robbers who beat me within an inch of my life and took stuff from me. But other than that, I've never had someone take something I left behind (at least that I noticed.) So, aside from animals stealing food and robbers demanding that you hand over some stuff or else will someone take something you left on the map somewhere? Like, if I drop a few furs at a shelter, will they ALWAYS be there when I get back or is there some possibility that they'll disappear?

Can you get randomly murdered in your sleep? Like theoretically, a fox could kill you if he found you asleep at a shelter, no?

If you choose the boost stats reward for the tutorial, what is the specific bonus? I assume you can't boost a stat if the bar is full already (like if it's at maximum)?

Is there a crafting penalty depending on the time of day? Is there a crafting penalty based on how vigourous you're feeling? Is there a crafting penalty if you're cool or cold or if you're hot and sweaty? Is there a crafting penalty based on your nutrition level (assuming you're not starving)? Or is the crafting outcome purely based on your skills, whatever penalty is displayed, and RNG? For example, if I'm tanning a skin and it says that I failed to maintain the quality of the skin, does it give me a better chance if I tan the skin as soon as I wake up, fill my stomach and drink?

Is there any disadvantage to being Hot and Sweaty? Is there any disadvantage to being Cool? Or do all disadvantages happen when you're either Cold or colder than that?

Answers to any of the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: No Finnish version?
It would be cool if you added finnish voice-overs for the english-text when talking to NPC's. Would really add to the immersion.
#suggestions

Yes, some more finnish in a way or another would add some flavour. We've had spoken finnish before eg. in rituals and attack swear words.
Finnish voice acting additions would be fun to do, but to suit the different circumstances we'd need a little group voice actors and actresses.

Re: No Finnish version? Do you think Schubert got the same questions about his UnFinnished Sonata? (hehehe)

Re: I swear by shutters! A different character, in-cabin with 8 shutters. I wake in daylight and am setting about feeding my dogs, who slept inside with me (it was a two-dog night..lol) when my dogs start barking alarm!

Prowling my cabin was a wolf pack and they're right next to the door! At point-blank range, through the shutter, my first shot puts one down, unconscious.  I shoot him again and he jumps and runs, taking 1 more hit of the next three arrows I fired. Then I open my door and target the 2nd wolf with my best broadhead arrow and HE starts running. I follow the blood trail of the first wolf and find him dead on the ice of the river. Following the 2nd wolf's blood trail, he, too, has died of blood loss.

I skin and butcher them inside and get two decent hides and 70 cuts. After preparing the hides, I check the big deadfall that's placed across the frozen ford I've built on and there's a third wolf caught in it!

In the end, he rendered a fine winter pelt and another 30 cuts. If I had NOT had shutters, I'd have walked out my door smack into the pair of wolves!

[WIP] RPG-ish(?) Character Portraits Hi, this is my first post on these forums. I've been experimenting with digitally painting over a couple of the default character portraits and wanted to share one. I'm open to thoughts and criticisms on how to better make it fit the game. I'm mainly unsure of what I'm doing with the backgrounds. This one has taken about 2-3 hours. I'd love to have a go at all of them eventually but we will see.

Re: Bow Balance question I'd assume the accuracy values you're referring to, which is already presented in the wiki as "by no means a certainty" and is based on very old information, have a high chance of being either incorrect or not the whole story.

I think the game is mysterious about rolls, stats and other details partly because the game was designed around mystery and superstition, so I wouldn't overthink the stats too much. If you really care about accuracy stats, the best thing I can think of would be to experiment by shooting a very very large number of arrows at stationary targets at various distances. Of course, actual calculations may be different on live targets, and may factor in skill or stats in unexpected ways, so even that might not do it.

Re: Bow Balance question
I mean, deep inside i hope the Northern Bow will be the one with the best performance! ;D

This is a common 'feeling' as "it has a name!"
By all means have fun testing and tweaking!

I'll just continue to use my "Elven Longbow"  :D

Re: Bow Balance question  Well I'll defer to Sami or other bow enthusiasts;

As to jmo of bow calculation 'rationalization' accuracy is both a measure of 'targeting' and range.
Making short, juniper, northern and others fine at shorter ranges. At greater distances longbows and crossbows (though suffering slower operation) become more widely used.
