Re: I am the new one I add a note in the Mute notification to contact myself or @ineedcords

So far in moderating and muting suspect spam bots; I’ve not got a single email to say they’re actually a person. (I check signature, forum name, email, IP address’s region, and few other bits before muting suspect bots)

My current play thru and thoughts on the game The most recent development news got me excited so I just started a new character a few weeks ago. I thought I'd share how it's going and how much I love this game.

I started in spring, with a female owl-tribe character. I used easy start and made her really good with a bow as well as fast. I chose the hunting accident start. The idea for the character was that she always loved shooting her bow and hunting small game. She finally convinced her brother to take her on a hunting trip with him and he was killed by a wolf. Feeling as though she'd be blamed for his death if she returned home, she hid in the forest and began to make her own way.

I chose a spot between the Koivulaiset and Kiesseläiset lands and began to set up her first base. Early on there were a few tough moments of survival, but the local village gave me a quest to collect stones which rewarded enough food to hold me over until the weather turned and I was able to find game.

Around the end of the second month my character was awoken in her sleep by a noise, which happens from time to time in the game. She got up and looked over her shoulder, assuming it was just another squirrel or grouse, but was shocked by a roar of a bear as it charged her!
I had to take a moment to collect my thoughts in real life I was so shocked, it was my first time being attacked while sleeping in the game and this character was poorly skilled and equipped for close up fighting. I knew my only chance was to dodge and wait for the bear to tire before starting my attacks.
The plan went really well, I was able to dodge over and over only taking a hit to the arm in the process. As the bear became breathless I started attacking back with my fine club. Eventually landing several good hits causing it to retreat. At this point I got greedy and thought, I'm winning this fight, I can't let it get away. We ended up in a life or death fight which I eventually won while heavily wounded. Thankfully the resources from killing the bear was enough to allow my character to lay about and heal up. (This was probably the most exciting event I've ever had in this game and wanted to share it.)

Here is my camp as it stands now, at the start of fall.
I planted Barley, Rye, Turnip and Broad bean mostly in my small fields, just to let the character get a small amount of agriculture experience.
Off to the left is my smoke house that I focused on first, to allow me to preserve extra meat that I had.
The middle building is my granary, I plan to have 4 cellars in it to keep long term storage organized and safe.
The right building is the cabin I plan on living in. In other times playing the game I always ended up wishing I had more room in my home so I planned a massive one right from the start. I chose to build around the spring you see to give me easy access to water for cooking and hide working. I almost always set my homes at a spring, because I find managing tubs of water hauled from a river or lake to get tedious. You can see that I have many projects going at once, all scattered in my courtyard. A massive pile of plants I have to some day get around to threshing, I gathered lake reed, nettle and bean bog until the water got too cold. You can also see my pet, Baccus the Boar.

I have a few small trapping sites that I visit often and they give me small game here and there while keeping an eye out for large game wandering thru my area. When my meat runs out I have nets that I set out in a nearby lake and also pass the time shooting at the ducks with my long bow. I swing thru and check the local villages and help them with anything they need as well as trading with them. There is a local blacksmith who has made me serval items. The days are always busy at this time of year and they go by quickly.

Thanks for taking the time to read my experience with the game. I wanted to say thank you to the creators of this game. You've made something really amazing. I often come home and play after a long day at work to relax. It's calm and engaging while also having moments that get your heart pumping. I love feeling like I'm transported to iron age Finland and helping this imaginary person live.

Frequenting the development chambers Hey hey,
it's august now. The call of the wild, sunlight and outdoors in the real world still remains strong but as the summer keeps turning into autumn I'll be starting to frequent the development chambers more often now. The coding season starts with some bugfixing and continues with the planned future essentials mentioned in the previous post.
That's all for now - see you!

Making of making of clothes Last week Erkka (UnReal World co-designer) came over for a few days visit and we delved into adjusting requirements for making clothes - namely the thread requirements -
as in the upcoming version making of majority of clothes will require a needle and certain amount of thread.  We did the planning in old-school way relying on written sources, pen and paper - for that is the good old way of the unreal world devs. So, below you'll find a few making of pictures from this making of clothes planning session. The book that was in use now will surely be used again in many more times as the making of clothes now keeps improving.

Back after a technical problem As many of you probably noticed, the forums were down for several days. There was a small but fatal error lurking in an unexpected place. But once spotted, it was rather easy to fix. So here we are, up and running again.

Season's Greetings With these season's greetings I wish all the best for all you good old and brave new adventurers out there.
See you in 2026 as the development and all that continues.

They both would prefer more snow, though.

Re: Tips, Tricks, FAQs Tip 1: How to reach 1600 item stack limit per map
Tip 2: How NOT to reach 1600 item stack limit per map

==Tip 1: How to reach 1600 item stack limit per map==

Use one map for item storage, AND cooking, AND farming, AND trapping creatures.

Non-perishable item create definite stacks, which is one way to keep track. Like 10 Fine sword, 20 Masterwork arrows.

But perishable items like food will degrade with time, and stacks are arranged with different level of degradation. So it's quite likely number (and content) of stack will change with time. Say, you are Drying up an elk worth of meat cuts. At the finished day, you will have a stack of 100 Good dried Elk cuts and 12 Great dried. But one week later, your 2nd Elk Drying action finished drying, and you got a 110 Good dried Elk cuts and 15 Great dried cuts. AND fun of fun, the calculation continue to the next day, and your final content of Good dried Elk cuts and Great dried Elk cuts wont be what you think... it depend on how the game calculate.

Farming calculation is different. each planted tile of that map get a different name so it's a different stack. So when flowering, it's another stack, after harvested another one. This change mean the map will get recalculated every time plants change their avatar. You will be spared off so many headache if you just dont use your farm map as house/storage/cooking.

Trapping is worst. The traps summon a creature to that map or nearby if it succeed. The creature will run all over your known map, creating tracks. Which tracks count as a type of stack, and it keep randomly long. You never know when you find a faint track, which is useless to you, but the map still keep. So keep your trap map far from house/storage/cooking/farming.

==Tip 2: How NOT to reach 1600 item stack limit per map==

Keep your house and main storage cellar in a safe map, aka surrounded on ALL sides with fences to prevent creatures moving in and leaving tracks behind. With ready water source. Preferably a rapid map, as that wont change winter/summer. As it has few ground more water ratio, it has less area to let tracks behind. Island on rapids is a great location.

Keep your hide/fur/cooking map in another place, with ready water source. Preferably having one bark-type tree in the area so you can have new bark at hand to tan the hide. After cook, can move your final products (food, skin, hide...) to your House and storage. This will prevent the cooking process creating too many new stack and affect existing stacks.

Keep your farm in another place, also surrounded on ALL sides with fences to prevent creatures moving in and leaving tracks behind. I am pretty damn sure this farm would not trigger the bug, after my huge 30x30 experiment. To be fair, 20x20 is enough for consumption, but I like my huge farm.

Keep your trapper fence in another place to prevent creatures' tracks affect other map' function. Preferably have one water source in the area, because if you catch a Great Elk it can be quite troublesome to fetch water from afar to skin it. Trapper fence, by itself, almost never trigger this bug because long before that the local wildlife already get caught, all.

2026 - here we go ... 2026.
We've entered into yet another year to be eventually added to long development history of UnReal World.
And if you didn't know already, the yearly summary since 1992 is available on the game at the section Dev. history since 1992.
There was actually gap in the summaries for the last two years, but it's all now updated up to 2025.

What I can say about plans for 2026 is that the early year is fully dedicated to adding Clothcraft skill for more detailed, quality modified and pausable making of clothes.

And then, a moody photo of development chambers to start the year.
This is where the magic happens. Both inside and the outside.
Take care!
