Rendezvous for Foreign Traders I think it would be great if there were an annual rendezvous of foreign traders somewhere so the PC is not limited to only randomly occurring encounters. French traders did something similar when trading for buffalo and beaver furs in the US. One might even be able to order something for the next rendezvous from the traders. I've never really accepted that there are groups of traders wandering the forests of Finland without an established circuit through the villages.

[Diary entry] Talks with PhD about folk beliefs in UnReal World The folklore, mythology and folk beliefs displayed in UnReal World have also arised academic interest.
Last weekend fresh Doctor of Philosophy, mr. Kyyrö, from Univerity of Turku School of History, Culture and Arts Studies paid a visit and came to talk about these themes for a project he is planning regarding computer games and religion.
Should there be some related publications or articles in the future, I'll keep you updated, but you gotta be patient as ambitious academic studies are proceeded slowly and carefully.
It's the same with ambitious iron-age inspired computer games too... :)

Who let the dogs out... Let's try to make a return with development news then. It's taken some browsing of the code and decoding hazy written notes to find the path which I was following prior to fracturing my arm, and the sick leave that followed. But now also my to-do memory has recovered to great extent and there are snippets of upcoming features to present.

Dogs... NPC dogs... Village dogs... Dogs to better protect the NPCs... that's what I had started to code, and that's what is now to be continued.

Village dogs are now released out of their pens, and they roam freely at the village area. This allows village dogs to truly protect the village from possible threats and intruders. Village dogs are also improved in their watch dog behavior, and unfamiliar visitors are now greeted with alarm barks and by coming close by to sniff and check them. Village dogs may seem intimidating for strangers but this behavior is gradually toned down when you become more familiar with the village.

...to be continued -- there are a few more dog things coming up..

Re: Finding fresh water should be more challenging I partially disagree. In modern times you are absolutely correct surface water is suspect do mostly to pollution caused by people, industry, intensive agriculture, and human sewage. Iron age Finland would not have theses problems except for possible around the villages. Also to a smaller degree a person who has been drinking from natural sources in one area since birth would be better adapted to  the microbes of that water and less like to get sick form it than a foreigner who has been drinking chemically disinfected water for their whole life.

Njeperz, who are they and why? Njeperz the red is a common topic for UrW players.
When it comes to Njeperz, people oftens mapping them to east slavic people.
I have a question that UrW is base on the iron age in Finland(Sápmi, in precisely), which is C1st~C5th. AD.(From C4th BC., If we count in Findless Age)
But east slavic people (Ilmen tribes then) was not waging war against Sápmi people until High Middle Ages IIRC.
However, germanic tribes like Saxon did lots "migration". It can be inferred migration not only happen in western Europe but north Scandinavia.
(Even in Findless Age, there was warlike Jastorf culture in C6th~C3th BC. in southern Scandinavia & north Germany.)

In Finnish, "Sima"(mead) is from Proto-Germanic *saima-.
"raha"(money) is from early Proto-Germanic "*skrahā"(squirrel skin).
In UrW timeframe we're all witness of this loanword adopted from Proto-Germanic.
Moreover, in-game item "Njerpeziläis Scimitar" have a *-äis word-final, which is similar to German word. (probably)

If he looks red, swims like a robber, and quacks from east, shall it be communist slav?
BTW Polish "Niemiec"(German;foreigner, literally "one who mute(won't speak our language)")
make me think of Nje-perz. 8)

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World? Today I fought my first njerp warrior.

I encountered him while transferring items from a logging outpost to a site I planned on building a permanent house. Luckily I was prepared. I had my longbow equipped and broadhead arrows ready. My 2 trust dogs leashed by my side named "pup pup" and "cutie". I immediately unleashed them and ordered to attack. Pup pup dashed towards the warrior, and cutie barked in dismay and refused to attack. My only choice was to fire upon the warrior. My first shot was lucky, piercing his hand and causing him to fall. Pup pup was on him and bit him with ferocity. Pup pup was brave. The warrior took his broadsword and swung it true at poor pup pup killing him instantly. I shot again despite my agony, and the arrow pierced his abdomen, falling him again. My lucky shots and the bravery of pup pup's sacrifice allowed me then to slowly approach the felled wounded warrior and slit his throat. I mourned pup pup. But being the pragmatist that I am, I butchered him to allow more food supply for cutie. Rest in peace Pup pup. I'm sorry.

Didn't know UrW time frame is Corresponding to Medieval Age,

Yes, that is because while most of the Europe was living High Middle Ages marked by influence of The Church, cultures in Finland and Scandinavia were still pagan. So, in the history of Finland "Middle Age" only begins after the King of Sweden had converted to Christianity and launched a series of crusades to Finland, eventually conquering the territory. (that happens gradually during 1150 - 1250 AD. UnReal World is not stricty based on exact timeline, we are using some artistic freedom to imagine a world where those crusades either started a bit later, or didn't happen at all.)

So, before those events Sweden, Norway and Denmark were living their Viking Era, the rest of the Europe was Middle Ages, and in Finland it was the Viking period of Iron Age. (The philosophical point; History often operates on broad general terms which apply to central areas. When speaking about the history of Europe we conveniently use terms like 'Antiquity', 'Middle Ages' and 'Modern Times', but it should be noted that those broad terms don't apply uniformly to all of what is now Europe. The details and local variations are always a lot more diverse than the convenient simplicity offered by the general broad descriptions.)

Re: Rendezvous for Foreign Traders I've long thought this as well. Traders should have established routes, aiming for settlements, and you should be able to ask villagers in a town if/when they next expect some traders to come. It's odd for them to just wander out to the wilderness, throw a party, and then vanish.

Re: Help plz! Stuck and going to die lol I'm pretty sure you can't get out of the situation by deleting files, etc.

The only way I know to "cheat death" is to make a backup copy of the character's folder.
Then you can go back and start from that saved point.

Just roll with the situation, and like you already said, you've learned something and will know better next time.
Permadeath is, of course, one of the hallmarks of roguelike games!
