Re: Endgame economics - Money sink ideas It would be interesting to be able to create a new village in a specific location by piling enough of certain supplies in one spot.  It would give you a reason to stockpile large amounts of certain things.  For instance, to establish a village which specializes in fishing, you might need to pile up:

10 fishing rods
20 nets
1000 days worth of food
10 bags of salt
500 stones
1000 logs
2 of each type of axe
10 assorted knives
500 pounds of fur
250 pounds of leather
100 cords
100 pounds of any combination of seeds

Put that all in one space, use the [M]ake menu to to make a fishing village, and poof!  To make it more interesting and useful, you could also add certain cultural items to give you the ability to make it a certain desired ethnicity.  So if you want a Kaumo village to trade with near your Owl-region homestead, you could build one and create a Kaumo cultural area around it.  With enough time and tenacity, you could transform an area by creating multiple villages of the same ethnicity in the same general area.

Re: Luckiest kill? One time, i chased an elk out onto the ice, where she fell through.  I stood on the solid ground nearby and was casually clubbing her to death.  as the elk became severely wounded, she turned to fight.  On her first strike, she somehow hit me in the eye with her hoof and i was killed in an instant.  still not sure how that could have physically happened irl

Re: Injured adventurer clarification If it says "at border location of spruce mire area right next to pine mire in the west", it means: There is a spruce mire with a shelter in it, and 1 tile directly west of the spruce mire is a pine mire.

It's not necessarily near the border between the spruce mire and pine mire tile. it can be anywhere in the spruce mire tile.

Re: Orja Reemailainen Part 4: The End

My revenge had become tedious.  I became careless while raiding the villages and was trapped several times in mires or outside of buildings.  I had layered myself with the clothes of the dead and waded into their villages with my battleaxe dripping from the last village I had slaughtered...

I continued to raid, even with light wounds.  By the time the snow thawed, there were seven villages left.

Once the Njerpezti were all killed, I collected all their dead from their 32 villages and stacked dumped their rotting corpses into massive piles.  While wading through the remains, a great calm came upon me, and I knew the spirits were pleased.

The dead were stacked and sorted...

... and I counted all I had collected from their 32 villages...

Now, I am off to a bog.  I plan to build a fire and cast my mother's cursed comb into the bog to let her spirit rest in peace.

The empty villages that now surround me seem pointless.  Even though I know I have appeased the spirits and are in unity with the world, I have no more purpose to my life.   I'm done.  I think I will travel back to the Reemailainen and settle down on a new homestead.  Hopefully, I'll find the peace.  What will become of me?

Re: "The Challenge" I find this a very interesting way to play, and difficult, I can see why some people might give up after a couple of tries.

My first attempt caused a dilemma I started with a masterwork knife and several pieces of clothing that were masterwork, I was very tempted not to discard them all. My injuries were quite bad, lots of small cuts and bruises and a deep wound on my hip, I role played this by not climbing, running or even walking to far without resting. Just to my north there was a hill which would give me a chance to get some bearings, to the north were mountains and everywhere else was thick forest.

Water was going to be my problem, I needed to find some fast. I headed south as that seemed more downhill, I collected several sorts of berries and other plants as I went and some rocks and fallen branches. Around midday I stopped to rest my hip, lit a fire and ate some of the berries that I recognised. The berries filled my stomach and decreased some of my thirst but I was sure I could not live on berries all winter. I eventually found my way around a steep cliff, through a narrow gap in the trees, there was an ideal spot to spend the night, it looked as if should have a pond but it did not.

At the bottom of the cliff there was a trunk, nearby were several trees to collect more firewood from. I decided to rest there for the night, I dropped all my goods in a pile, pushed some branches onto the trunk, that might keep me warm all night. While waiting for night to fall I could make myself a stone knife, examine the plants I had collected and collect some branches to keep the fire going.

At this point RL got in the way and I had to do other things for an hour or so, when I got back I decided to save the game until the next day. When I loaded the game again I was back at the place where I had started, not at my camp, all my goods were probably at the campsite, including my food. It was however evening, I was cold and hungry and all the plants near me had been picked. I tried to find my camp but died before I got there.

My second attempt went better, I lasted almost a week but died of a stupid mistake. I had found some water after travelling a few Km, I set some traps, collected firewood and started building a shelter. This was where my stupid mistake came in, rather than light a fire to keep warm while working I persisted in building the shelter until I was to cold and weak to light a fire.

I now play this using BAC mod as there is more choice of actions while not being easier, you can spend most of the day making birch shoes which do very little to keep you warm.
