Re: Alternative quest reward.
I don't spend a lot of time gather herbs so alot of time when that quest comes up I'm not sure which herbs I can even identify yet. Your word is law but for the sake of friendly debate, I hear the quest as a need for young legs it's a task for an apprentice or novice. If they were wanting to test your herb lore then they should give an ailment like I've have a fever or cough, maybe trouble sleeping and they ask for herbs to help and thus you must be able to identify the properties of a plant to know what to give. But that would be an entirely different quest all together. I just wish there were ways to learn from my elders March 27, 2020, 01:48:09 PM |

Re: Domestic Reindeer Milking
No arguments about production complaints but no animals naturally give milk without a baby. Same goes for cows and sheep. Its just those have been bred/selected to produce much more milk than need for longer periods that are extended by the act of milking. Sorry needed to Farmsplain for any city folk out there who thought milk came from cartons March 28, 2020, 01:50:23 PM |

Re: mushrooms
Also noadi's is safe to eat but has some unusual side effects especially if you eat one save your game and forgot that you ate it when you set out hunt when you start playing the next day.

Rendered fat
Been messing about with seals. All that fat made me wish for a way to preserve it for a longer time in a usable form. Wondering about the historical accuracy of rendered fat or a similar process to have a tanning agent on hand July 22, 2020, 04:19:39 PM |

Icebox
I tried an experiment. I took down a herd of reindeer late fall, about ten minutes worth of fresh ice but no snow on the map. I piled the slain deer 5 of them in an ice hole. And then went to skin butcher and start tanning the hides in that order. I was able to start the process on 3 of them bjyefore the last to went rotten. At no time did the ice melt. I feel that the deer did not exceed a temperature of greater than 0°C and as such should have kept longer than 3 to 4 days. What are your thoughts on this? It's a cold temperature or gutting and draining the blood more important to keeping a carcass from rotting in real lifr. Do you think it's worthy of a suggestion since Sami has been working on more realistic temperatures July 30, 2020, 09:57:32 PM |

Re: I want to nap rather than sleep + pets on the same tile
That and it's always been a little bit of a pet peeves of mine the degree to which vigor and the need to sleep are linked. Hard work can help you sleep deep but never have been like oh I've baled so much hay today I simply can not stay awake and fallen asleep before my regular bed time, and on the other side there have been plenty of time where I've done no strenuous activity and I still can go to sleep at the same time as normal and sleep as long as normal

Re: Pack removal
They just ransacked the near by village. Killed 5 cows 3 villagers, and about ripped off my right arm as I rushed to help. Ambushed me from the side of small ridge. Villagers killed two. Also unless I'm missing it companions can skin animals but they can't independently tan said hides, and neither can I do so one handed. Sadness at loosing two wolf hides
