Re: Mik You could do something that's never been done here, I think: document an older character. Wait for something big/strange to happen, and then play it from there. Losing everything to robbers? Revenge! Getting mauled by a bear? Document the recovery and transformation into a character more respectful of the Great Man of the Forest. Etc etc.

Otherwise, we'll just wait for your next new creation :D

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World?
Speaking of dogs, they should probably run away if they’re too hungry.

Or turn on you and eat you alive.

Re: Rauko
Finally the hunger can end the next day as he brings down an elk!
It was a long chase with only a javelin to kill it with.

..how on earth did you chase down an elk with those penalties? :D

Re: [Fixed - persists in 3.50b2] Some clothes weigh too much That's great, Sami! Thanks for looking into this.

Regarding undergarment, my laziness won and I trusted the wiki: there, undergarment covers as much as tunic, and both are smaller than overcoat (that covers exactly like undershirt).

Maybe it's old information.. I shall double check on my 3.5b2 data.

Re: Skill Training Guide The weapon training trick is awesome, never thought of that! It's a great parallel to training ranged weapons, now.

I would probably not use |2| to avoid maxing it too quickly, but very cool recipe nonetheless :D

Re: Wind Yes, I love this. It would be great combined with wetness effects (again, impacting on all things you mentioned).

A winter's snowstorm shouldn't be a day to march out even covered in furs, or to stay in the wild with only a fire to warm you. Windproof and/or waterproof clothes could gain the edge against purely "warm" clothes (eg, sealskin overcoat over wool clothes during spring/autumn to protect from wetness while keeping decently warm).

Re: this game in unplayable and i'm triggered It's not intuitive at first, but everyone of us managed, and you will too - but you need to get in the right mindset ;)

The others have given you a lot of advice. I will only say this: learn the controls. Understand how to access all the menus.

- Have you found how to access all the recipes (even if you don't have the means to cook them yet)?
- Have you seen the traps menu, and tried to build a few?
- Have you noticed that in some menus you can craft weapons, or clothes from furs/leather?
- Can you start fires, move stuff without picking it up?
- Do you understand how the weight penalty affects your skills?

I would suggest you start a new character, pump your fishing skill and start as a fisherman. You can then survive on fish (and even barter it for clothes, or furs to make clothes) while you figure out the basics.

It WILL get much easier, eventually. So easy that we older players must gimp ourselves to make it harder. So keep at it and enjoy this weird wonderful game :)

Re: A safe place for cows I find the best protection against bears is to have an outer fence, and within an inner fence with your cows (my log cabin is also within the outer fence). In the outer fence a couple of dogs roam freely.

I put a heavy deadfall trap just outside or inside the outer fence, and a couple of mounds of bones for the dogs (plus any spare meat).

I don't think a bear will attack with two barking dogs there, and if it does, it will be busy eating them before going to the inner fence with cows/sheep/pigs. This gives you time to kill it. Or, with a bit of luck, the bear might just get into the heavy deadfall trap :)

Incidentally, the dogs also defend my crops in this way, since I make fields close to the cabin within the outer fence.

Re: Wall with shutter?, and other questions... - Just build the floor adjacent to the wall-with-shutter and it will line up correctly ;)

- no permanent damage for any injury (on animals or people alike)
