Re: 3.50(beta2) Sleeping dog moving around the tree it's tied to. Encouraged by others succesful reproduction tries I gave it another go and yes, now I also managed to see the issue.
So no need for additional folders to be sent, Sproink, and thanks for the follow-up info. Will continue to investigate.

[let it be / not a bug] Re: Skins I really have no strict opinion on this, but it's not a bug per se, and we'll let it be for now.
Luckily people can adjust the recipe according to their needs / thoughts / feelings.
If we start adjusting the skin properties at some point making a real waterproof drinking skin should also be a lot more demanding than it currently is.

Rid of the crash related creature and item losses We're clearing bugs away from the path of a stable tag, which is shining in the horizon and to be attached to 3.50beta version soon enough.  Lately I've tried to find ways to improve crash security to overcome creature and item losses when travelling with companions and watercrafts. Not a frequent issue, but a real annoyance if it might happen to you.
And now I think a reliable and fast way to get rid of this legacy issue has been found, and will be put to effect in the next patch.

There's now extra data save added upon each map load to provide crash security and to minimize certain creature and item loss potential. Previously it was quite often the case that the pets and companions you were travelling with would disappear upon a crash. The same sort of crash related disappearence might also happen to the items you were transporting with a watercraft - including the watercraft. This sort of losses should be history now. Crashes may naturally lose some progress in the game world, but all the creatures and items should stay intact and be available upon returning to post-crash UnReal World.

This is a future feature, not yet functional in 3.50 beta version.

Re: water spirits won't come 3.50b2
I successfully met a water spirit in 3.50b2 but I had to try two different locations before it worked. I'm not sure I was on the right kind of rock the first time.

Thanks for the follow-up, Korvi. Haven't heard of Plotinus nor got the save, but it seem there's no reason to suspect a bug.
Spirits are not automatic beings, and as every area and territory has got spirits of its own their moods or behaviour is not universal to the whole game world.

Plotinus, if you happen to spot this, feel free to send the save nevertheless so we can confirm.

February life Hey good people and fellow adventurers,

time for a little february life update as I've seemed to be semi-absent for awhile. What went down is that I took some time to travel to Norway to meet some friends,
came back and discovered the beauty of february winter snow blankets and increasing sunglight,
equipped my new cross-country skis and had a blast with them in the woods for days,
then developed a nasty flu -- and now recovering from all that.
Because of all this I've been very slow on e-mail as well, but as the week goes on I'll be replying at least to the urgent stuff.

On coding front I'd like to fix just a little more and then release 3.50 stable while the winter still continues - cause now I've got probably the greatest skis I've ever owned.

These are Taiga cross-country/hunting skis of russian origin. The proportions comes close to the great ancestral skis of ancient Finns - and many other ugric / north eurasian peoples.
They are naturally all wooden, and after this picture was taken a decent layer of pine tar has been put on the underside, and ties attached.

Re: Unfair death due to extremely rapid ice melting Erkka did some tweakings and I'll hereby report this being fixed now. Luckily it's rare condition, but a nasty one.

Fixed - persists in 3.50beta2

Re: Some clothes weigh too much Yes, it seems for example those fur overcoat and cloak weights are slightly too heavy. These pieces came in with armour glossary updates and weights never reasoned properly.
Some other pieces could be tweaked too, some clear errors can be spotted. I'll be taking time to go through the armour clossary weights.

Ski archery in traditional, northern and asiatic fashion video Today's clip (from my archery channel) is so UrWish that it needs to be here:

Archery on skis in northern fashion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez1CUoz0tdQ

Skiing archer can be quite effective, and Sami people even had ski-taff bows with rim and head attached to lower part of the bow so no separate ski staff was needed at all.
The video also makes you think that the the game [w]ielding rules could be adjusted a bit. :)

Re: Some clothes weigh too much Respect for the list of your clothes, DfDevadander. Nice to notice UrW<>IRL matching like that, and would be super cool to see you dressed in that gear.

Koteko, this confused me quite a bit:
Quote
Undergarment: covers as much as a tunic, and less than an undershirt. However, it weights 4 for linen and 7 for wool, much more than tunic (2.8 and 5) and still more than undershirt (3 and 5), which is supposedly bigger. Incidentally, tunic and undershirt have the same weight for wool, while undershirt is bigger. I'd probably notch woollen tunic down by a bit, eg 4.7 or something.
..as the order of which is bigger piece of clothing should go from smallest to largest: undershirt, overcoat, undergarment. I wonder if there's something wrong with your character clothing coverages...?

But anyway, things are adjusted now and the weight changes will go as follows:

        * Woollen tunic - now weighs 4.6 lbs (was 5)

        * Nettle cloak  - now weighs 2.6 lbs (was 6)
        * Woollen cloak - now weighs 5.3 lbs (was 6.5)
        * Fur cloak     - now weighs 11.5 lbs (was 14)

        * Woollen overcoat - now weighs 6.3 lbs (was 5.5)
        * Fur overcoat     - now weighs 13.5 lbs (was 15)

        * Leather leggings - now weighs 6.3 lbs (was 2.9)
        * Fur leggings     - now weighs 7.4 lbs (was 3.5)

So some pieces were also way too light. Some of this was result of simple typos mixed with too haste copy&pastes.

Fixed - persists in 3.50b2

Re: [Fixed - persists in 3.50b2] Some clothes weigh too much
That's great, Sami! Thanks for looking into this.

Regarding undergarment, my laziness won and I trusted the wiki: there, undergarment covers as much as tunic, and both are smaller than overcoat (that covers exactly like undershirt).

Maybe it's old information.. I shall double check on my 3.5b2 data.

Undergarment coverages were bugged prior to 3.40b3 so the Wiki probably refers to those. So it's old/bugged information.
