Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World? Have not hit any limit warnings or problems yet. Anticipating the problem, though, I dug a cellar on a one-square island in some rapids and moved a great deal of my most valuable tools, weapons, and furs there.

Likewise, At a day's distance is my first settlement with a split of my possessions, the rest being at a large, fenced-in fishing camp on an island that is approachable through rapids at 5 different points when winter freezes over.

Hardest things to find... With four characters that have traveled very widely, the hardest things to find have been an ango and a big bull. I find a lot of bulls but, so far, only a single big bull. The spear I've seen a few times but it was never up for trade. This scarcity seems to be across the board because none of my characters has found the spear and only one has ever seen a big bull.

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World? 3 Njerp vs me and five dogs. Lost two dogs, two superior arrows and I took an ax to the eye. These Njerp groups have certainly made the Unreal World seem more precarious. They all had bastard swords so I can replace the dogs without cost, but, it's going to require some travel.

1070 Hours Certainly no milestone for the oldest hands here, but, I've now logged over one thousand hours in the Unreal World. What a great game!

Re: 1070 Hours
Some impressive hours there ;D. Do you guys play for that actively or just have the game running on the background, I tend to do that quite often. The game is running, I play some turns alt-tab back to whatever else I'm doing, and repeat the cycle.

And even then I only have 300hrs :o

I run 5 characters and cycle through them to keep the play fresh. Every hour logged is from play. I have over 3 thousand hours on Skyrim...heh, my wife calls herself a "computer widow". lol

Re: Best equipment for hide working
I've never considered the level of rest as a possible factor (not to be confused with fatigue, which definitely is a factor). I'm not sure I will either, because time is working against that, i.e. if you sleep you risk delaying the processing to the next day at which time the skin may have degraded in quality just through time. However, it's worth keeping an eye out for a connection between rest and result.

I won't work a Superior skin until I'm at 'Vigorous' status. Then, I do a hide working step, then work a while on other things until I'm a bit worn and down to a lower level. Then I sleep, it's really just a short nap, and come back at Vigorous for the next step. It disrupts the usual night-time sleeping cycle but, with few Superior skins, it's doesn't happen that often. When I'm pressed by events to work on multiple skins, I eat a Bear Pipe root to stay at a high energy level. Mother Pipe will work, too, but I don't find many of those.

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World? One of my characters is nearly 19 and just found his first Masterwork Broadknife- in fact, he found TWO of them. Traveling from Kuikka lands down to Reemi lands, the only area he'd never been to, was very rewarding. His previous excursions were so exhausting that he'd just never gotten so far to the southeast.

Carrying a dozen furs, a handful of weapons, and 50 arrows for barter (and as it turned out, his Fine Northern knife and a linen shirt), he managed to trade for, at Masterwork quality, a broadaxe, a carving ax, the two broad knives, a small knife, and a shield. He also traded for a big boar (it just seemed like a must-buy!), a big dog, and a BIG BULL! In addition to the foot wrappings, for the coming cold, he bartered for enough dried and smoked fish and meat along the way to complete his trek. He'd found 37 Reemi villages and there was still a bit of their lands left to explore!

In the end, he returned home a week before winter with only 3 furs and none of the trade weapons left. His barn is looking pretty crowded with 5 dogs, 2 cattle, a deer, and a boar. All in all, the most successful trade trek I can recall.

Re: Using Fishing Skill to Find Good Fishing Spots I'm from Louisiana, the 'Sportsman's Paradise'. Fishing doesn't work that way in slow-moving waters, nor in open sea. It certainly would not work that way for ice fishing. People have favorite fishing spots because they've caught fish there, not because their senses tell them it's a good place.

Re: Have you bought a hunting horn? I've found hunting horns in the north-most territories (including the Sartola), and never ran across one in the southern areas. I've found several on wandering Njerp. As I've never attacked a Njerp camp, I can't speak to their prevalence in those.

The last time I had cause to use a hunting horn was after a Njerp battle. One of my dogs had been injured and fled. Upon using the horn, I 'heard' a responding bark in the distance and the dog returned shortly. This occurred after the update which created wandering Njerp bands of multiple Njerps, instead of the old single Njerp band, so I think the horns are still functioning.

Were you raised in a barn? Would it be possible to make Companions close doors consistently? It's annoying that they wander around while I'm sleeping and leave my barn doors open, exposing my animals to the wild. It's dangerous that they'll leave the front door to my cabin open.

Perhaps their activity should be frozen whenever they, or the player, enters a building?

It's also annoying when the player has to wait until the Companion exits a building before he can go to the strategic map.
