Thanks for the suggestion Erkka, I think it came out quite nice.

I'm working on a 8 sided NPC sprite pack, and am wondering what you guys think is on this guys back.

It might be a hood or a bag, the fallen sprite makes me think it is a bag, and the standing looks like a hood to me.

What do you guys think?

Also a teaser gif.

It's pretty good. I have a few pointers. Try to limit your palette, it will make it easier to deliberatly place colors. Often you'll have 3 colors that could easily just have been one.

Try to outline the sprites with a darker color, with the highlight on the right side of the sprite. I made an example with you beaver sprite. I limited the palette to six colors.

The shapes are very good!

Krutzelpuntz thanks, looks really nice! Just checked, everything's fine except sleeveless blue dress seems to be the same as regular blue dress.

Fixed, my workspace is maybe a bit messy at the moment ;)

Also, it would be nice to have shirts/undershirts available for female character too.

I'm slowly working on adding more sprites. I don't always have so much time to work on it as I wanted, but today I made some sleeveless shirts, a couple of dresses and green undergarments.
You can keep up with sprite updates here:

Enjoy!

When wearing belts over overcoat, there's one-pixel gap in the east/west direction. Overcoat should be one pixel narrower in this directions to fit belts.

I never thought of wearing belts over coats, it can be a bit of a challenge getting everything right ;)
I added belts specifically for the overcoats. You can update the sprites to get them by right clicking the editor

It's amazing. Hopefully there will be also female base and items, it would be really great!

Night, seems I've found a bug. Leggins somehow doesn't display when a character stands in the east direction.

Thanks!
Yeah, I chose to make the male character first. Hopefully I'll get to working on the female version someday soon.
I found items to be a bit difficult to make, but it is not impossible I'll try some more after the female sprites.
Right now I am working on a bit of polish, missing apparel and bugfixing. Thanks for the heads up, it's been fixed. Wait for Night to reupload.

UPDATE: I'll put the worst offenders up here for now, we are working on a pretty cool release. It may be a little while before we get everything implemented
