Re: [Tool] Character Designer v1.1.0b Sprites for fur shirts and the various weapons would be a welcome addition! Perhaps also BAC's various apparel if anyone feels inclined to make them.

Bert's slightly interesting and marginally relevant documentaries A documentary following a bloke called Jon, who is a Sami reindeer herder.  He's not exactly a traditionalist; he uses a snowmobile and other modern stuff, but the reindeer and the harsh but beautiful landscape never change.  An interesting look at modern Sami life.  Jon, the Sami:

Re: ModernNorseman's Portrait Mod 1.0 (AI Portraits)
Hi, @ModernNorseman !

I love this portrait pack you made. Unfortunately I found the watermark in the corner of every image to be a tad distracting. I understand why they put a watermark, but considering this is for personal use to mod a game we're all just playing by ourselves, and not some commercial project, I went ahead and did what came naturally to me and removed the watermarks using Photoshop.  ;D

If it's okay with you, I'd like to share it; however it looks like I'm unable to post external links. Would you be interested in this version? I can figure out a way to send it to you somehow if you'd like. Please let me know!

Hi ruskerdax.

I kept them on for, as mentioned, to avoid any issues regarding copywrite violations, but since you mentioned it, I went and checked up on it. artflow.ai says the following: "All content are licensed under CC BY 4.0.". Looking up the CC BY 4.0, it is further explained:

You are free to:
Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
for any purpose, even commercially.

Under the following terms:
Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

I would certainly think that this means, that we can remove the watermark, as long as we make sure we communicate that these has been made with the artflow.ai software, and that the watermark have been removed. If you send them to me, I'll make sure to upload them and specify that this is the case :)

Re: Rebalance fishing with nets in winter The fish die from having stuck in place in the nets. They need to move to breath through the gills.
It's true in the warm summer waters some fish may die very surprisingly quick. Even in a matter of hours.
And then the spoilage starts fast too,
The cold waters may improve their lifespan to some extent, but I don't think it's that drastic.

From the local fishermen I've heard they check their wintertime nets twice a week, and still sometimes they find some fish dead. However, in the cold winter waters the spoilage doesn't go as fast as in the warm summer waters. And that could be tuned, with a day or two, but not with a week or so.

Something to consider, although we have a quite good all-year round average in use currently.

(For the realism sake the warm summer waters spoilage should be made faster too, but no-one is really suggesting that :) )

Re: Video Ambiance Companion for UrW -- Swedish Elk/Moose Migration This is actually something they show also on national tv in Finland.  Suuri Hirvivaellus (in finnish), translates as "the great elk migration".
Been watching it at times, and such a nice idea to accompany it with playing the game.

Re: Nejerpez warriors shoot tree trunks at me Thanks to Ezhe's savegame, this is now found and fixed.

When having ran out of arrows, in some conditions NPCs still decided to keep wielding their bow.
And as they now kept shooting their bows the actual arrows were replaced with quite random items.

Fixed - persists in 3.72-patch #2

Roe skull rite in Real World? My first thought was "ah, that's why there are so many roes running around" then I realized it's not a bear skull and it's not UnReal World.
Looks like someone from the nearby squat village felt a little dark kvlty. Or just wanted to keep the pedestrians away. Though I think the huge amount of litter around that path is better for that purpose...

Re: Krutzel's Spirited Sprites Wow, these are amazing! Congratz on sharing these critters! I'm really gonna be looking forward to seeing them in action for my next adventures in unrealworld.
Lots of love especially for the plumage on the flapping birds. :)

Regarding the alternate sheets in my sprite revamps: they won't do anything unless the user manually changes the file names to replace vanilla sprites.
It's possible to automate the necessary renamings through use of bat files. This method can be seen in action with Buoidda's Crafts, which has summer and winter versions of trees and the hare.

Another method for setting up seasonality is to separate summer and winter versions under different mod folders when using Weathereye's Mod Loader.
I hope the explanation below is clear enough to show how I use the mod loader to manage seasonal replacers:
Spoiler: show

  • PNGs for summer and winter sprite sheets must have names identical to the target vanilla files
  • load order priority given to winter versions, as in: put the winter folder at the bottom of modlist.txt
  • rename the winter folder in order to activate changes whenever appropriate for the playing session
  • press F9 to re-draw tiles in-game
The file structure would look something like this:

Code: [Select]
Unrealworld directory/
-Mods/
--modlist.txt
--ReAnimals/
---files/
----truetile/
-----pngs here (summer coat)
--ReAnimalsWino/
---files/
----truetile/
-----pngs here (winter coat)

And the modlist.txt file can have a load order containing:
Code: [Select]
+ReAnimals
+ReAnimalsWin

Keeping the winter folder name as ReAnimalsWino will prevent winter sprite changes from being applied because the name does not match ReAnimalsWin, which modlist.txt is looking for.
After renaming the folder, hit F9 to reload tiles in-game.
You won't need to deal with the hassle of quiting and restarting the game in order to see the changes because the modloader will be ready to update the sprite replacers. :)

Re: Krutzel's Spirited Sprites I feel pretty confident about winter sprites becoming implemented some time this decade. ;)
At least with deciduous trees there's already some alpha-blending going on to simulate dropping and growing in their leaves.

By the way Galgana, would you be cool with me using your waterspirit as a base for an 8 sided NPC? I like it much better than the original one
And yeah, go ahead!

Hmm, now that I think about it, IIRC unlike the case with the vanilla water spirit being just a slightly edited copy of npc-eman, Forest Maidens simply use npc-ewoman.
There's a quest dialogue that describes them having hollow backs, though I can't remember ever witnessing the spirits face away from my player character. It certainly is a detail that makes supernatural encounters rather spooky.
