Post by: Plotinus on December 25, 2017, 07:40:43 PM
I got this ram from the not all who wander are lost start:

Code: [Select]
(143270):i7ga:[#]{00CF0343}      | CONTAINER OPTIONS: Fill with water, or milk into
(147870):i7ga:[?]{00CF0343}      | To fill that wooden bowl you need water or an animal to milk.
(000000):i7ga:[T]{00CF0343}      | The ram bleats.
(000000):i7ga:[A]{00CF0343}      | Alright. Thank you for the milk, ram.

It is an intersex ram.

eta: I bought a bull and it also produces milk.

Did someone just assume the gender of that member of the Caprinae family?

Intersex animals do happen in real life -- and even outside of that most males can produce milk under certain conditions (it can be a side effect of starvation in humans, which makes a great deal of evolutionary sense. Certain medications can induce it, too, sometimes as a side effect) but it should be rare. I reported the bug because I suspect that if this ram can do it, either all the rams in urw can do it, or all the rams acquired through not all who wander are lost can.

Rams didn't use to be capable of producing milk in UrW, producing something like "Milk <ram name>? Nay, think again!" when you tried it, so it's something new (or particular to that starting scenario).

might be related to the new animal genders (bears, reindeer, etc.) we already had gender in sheep but maybe some variable didnt get attached right or something.

Just took a trip to Koivula and bought a bull

Code: [Select]
(3C5A98):i4gl:[:]{059204EE}      | The bull is now put on the leash.
(143270):i4gl:[#]{059204EE}      | CONTAINER OPTIONS: Fill with water, or milk into
(147870):i4gl:[?]{059204EE}      | To fill that wooden bowl you need water or an animal to milk.
(000000):i4gl:[T]{059204EE}      | The bull bellows.
(3C5A98):i4gm:[:]{059204EE}      | It starts to snow.
(000000):i4gm:[A]{059204EE}      | Alright. Thank you for the milk, bull.

No reindeer doe milk either, but we didn't have that before so it's okay.

Code: [Select]
(3C5A98):h5gj:[:]{04D00173}      | The reindeer doe is now put on the leash.
(143270):h5gj:[#]{04D00173}      | CONTAINER OPTIONS: Fill with water, or milk into
(147870):h5gj:[?]{04D00173}      | To fill that wooden bowl you need water or an animal to milk.
(A80000):h5gj:[!]{04D00173}      | Milk the reindeer doe? Nay, think again.

Fixed now. Milking checks were still based old species properties and not the actual gender of an animal, which is in use now.

Fixed -- persists in 3.50 beta 2
