While resetting traps in a trap fence my aim was off and I kicked down a fence section.
No problem thought I, just a few minute to rebuild...
... no materials were placed.
The stakes and cords ought to be left on the map, or at least the stakes.

Unless your kick broke the stakes and tore the cords.
-
I could certainly see a cord or all cords being broken
You'd have to have some wicked kicking abilities to break all the stakes at once especially since they are placed cross wise to each other.
-
Fence paused building was glitched the same. Sami fixed that in 3.62; it’s possible that the deconstruction comes from Fence also being in Trapping menu.
And Brygun, the fence consists of 2 upright, horizontal stakes, 4 diagonal stakes and withes to keep the diagonals spaced apart from each other.

Well damn I've never seen that style of fence before.
-
‘Least amount of material and labor for most coverage’—kind of “invention”
Has a reasonable rigidity too.
And tying the angled stakes to horizontals has less slip potential than tying vertical stakes to horizontals. So little less maintenance needed.

Kicking down fences is a really, really old feature. Now that we've got deconstruct option it's both redundant and not working properly.
So the fix is to remove this option, which is now done.
Kicking down fences is now removed - persists in 3.63.
