Title: Stop me, before I kill again!
Post by: Tom H on June 09, 2020, 02:47:06 AM
While doing daily Herbology checks on my unknown herbs, I use the 'S' key, then the 'E' key, and then select the herb in my inventory that I want to examine. I have on occasion somehow missed the 'S' key, then hit the 'E' key and inadvertently eaten the herb, instead. It's troubling when it's a poisonous herb, I can testify. I normally am alert to the notice saying that I need to look at something in my inventory, but, checking it twice daily, I occasionally mess up the proper sequence. I've learned to keep meadsweet available just for the occasion.

So, is there an alternate method for examining my herb inventory?

Not really (and I have the same issue). Having the items on the ground will block inventory access and make the mistake impossible, but you'd be tied to a specific location.

My routine is to check the weather, the herbs, and then eat, whenever my character gets hungry. I also tend to avoid carrying unidentified mushrooms, although there is now a check and warning for eating those.

You can avoid the issue for stuffing your stomach absolutely full first; then attempting to eat a herb should return prompt stating you can’t eat anything with full stomach.

Weather first, then stuff your gut, then herblore.

Also, when you’re doing herblore checks, the activity indicator at bottom right will state HERBLORE. (Vs eat something)

Thanks, Palu, Finn. It looks like Finn's method could be foolproof if maintained.
