Re: Feed the Njerpez Foundation needs your donations!
Just look at little Igor. He's only had 3 elk cuts in the last week. And you can help him for the price of only one squirrel hide a day. September 08, 2017, 03:12:31 AM |

Lazy bull
Just wanted to share a funny moment. I'm dragging my bull around packed with trading goods, from town to town, looking for useful masterwork items. I start the day early, and apparently, my bull was not ready for adventure in the early morning. I literally am dragging a sleeping bull in a leather rope September 09, 2017, 06:38:32 PM |

The History of Survival Games – From Archaic to ARK
This was an interesting article. The genre and its roots opened up, many interesting games mentioned, and UnReal World naturally being part of the history: https://survivethis.news/en/history-of-survival-games/ September 15, 2017, 10:30:31 AM |

Re: Obviously this has been suggested before but...
Multiplayer would completely wreck the game due to all the sacrifices of single player functionality that would have to be done on the altar of multi player. If you want a multi player shooter that sort of looks like UrW, go ahead and make one, but don't destroy UrW in the process. Turn based works poorly with multi player, although it can work for strategic level PBEMs (e.g. Dominions, but there the battles have been sacrificed on the multi player altar, so you're suffering from stupid battle decisions and overall lousy battle control). Scene pics for time of day
Currently, if you go into a pine mire at midnight, you'll get a photo of a pine mire in broad daylight. I think it would add to the game if the photos reflected the time of day somehow... So we could have pictures of certain biomes in twilight hours (maybe with sunset/sunrise), at night, etc. And it would still be nice I think to see the character pics with some transparency so it could be placed on a type of background representing the biome of the scene you're in. Time flies, the autumn comes
Oh my, it's the last of september already, and there's been no news since entering the summer vacation. Let's fix that quickly now. So, for those who only read news I should announce that I did survive the summer -- and as a more concrete evident frequent forum browsers have spotted few replies and here and there. Mostly concerning a few squashed or mysterious bugs. At the moment, regarding the game, I seem to be very short of time for anything else than continuing the development from where it was paused before the summer vacation. And occasionally squashing the most relevant bugs with the left hand when possible. Once we get a fistful of more to-do's featued a roadmap towards the next version becomes more to clear announce verbally for you, good people. The last few weeks it's been mostly all about continuing to add a new spells and finalizing ritual system renewal. It's one of the big next version additions, and was vaguely briefed in this old forums thread. With the shortage of more words and news to give you let's just say that the autumn is coming, but so are the future features of UnReal World. Let there be code, and let there be swans. Poems of the Fallen
Will post these whenever I get inspiration. Some refer to actual characters/character deaths I've had, some are more general. Frozen The spirits of autumn sang gently on the rain Easing my worries and easing my pain But ache and exhaustion had settled bone-deep So to autumn's sweet lullaby fell I asleep As I slept under open sky did sweet autumn me forsake For it was harsh winter spirits that drove me awake; Icy spirits whistling on a cold windy night left a thin blanket of snow on open mire wide Shivering and confused stumbled I 'round in a daze Unsure where I had been going, where from I came Confused and shivering in this unfamiliar place Could I barely remember my people and name Lost and forsaken in cold winter's lands Bare were my feet and bare were my hands So as I shivered and stumbled through open mire vast In my heart I knew this morning would be my last October 01, 2017, 08:11:37 AM |

Re: Poems of the Fallen
Drowning Ominous cracking heard a second too late Far out from the shore with my mind on a kill But the ice could no longer hold up my weight Just as the forest reindeer finally lay still Breathless was I from chasing after my prey Across two miles of forest and a mile of ice I had forgotten what my old man would say My mind had been on nothing but the bloody prize But 't was not a bloody prize but a price I would pay "It offends the spirits to bloody the ice in early spring--" I heard dad's voice in my mind as I felt my strength sway "--and 'tis surely your death the spirits will bring." (Yeah, that happened, a few characters back. Just as the damn reindeer died, it became morning, the ice grew weak and I fell through. And drowned.) October 02, 2017, 03:37:21 AM |

Re: Poems of the Fallen
Njerpez fallen He was a starving redshirt, oh, a Njerpez do I mean Hanging 'round my island's outskirts Unaware that he'd been seen So I took my fine broadhead and my longbow in my hands By nightfall would he be dead His stain cleansed off my lands He was a starving redshirt, oh, a Njerpez did I mean He bled out on the frozen dirt Where he's ever since been October 03, 2017, 07:02:40 PM |
